I used cordura, but I'm sure that there are other suitable types of material. 1m of 1.5m wide cloth is sufficient for the basic and larger sizes. If you don't want to add pockets - 0.75m would do. Make sure you use good strong thread to sew everything together.

You will also need some sort of stiffening material for base and roll top (e.g. hardboard/ twinwall plastic sheet etc.) : 395mm x 130mm (base) + *310mm x 25mm (top) for the standard size (or you can use velcro to hold the top together), or 395mm x 180mm for the base of the larger bag (the top stiffener is the same for both). Round the front corners of the base stiffener to match the base pattern piece.
Cloth pannier frame - available from your Brompton dealer.
Reflective tape 0.7m (std size) or 0.8m (larger size).
Liquid seam sealant - available in tubes from outdoor shops, or addresses below.
